Global sportswear manufacturer Puma is involved in violations of international law and human rights. Puma is the main sponsor of the Israel Football Association (IFA), which includes teams in Israel’s illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

Puma is a major sponsor of major Australian sporting clubs:  NSW Blues, Queensland Maroons, Melbourne City FC, Carlton and Richmond football clubs, the Melbourne Vixens netball club and Athletics Australia.

TO STAND UP FOR PALESTINIAN HUMAN RIGHTS AND END THEIR PUMA SPONSORSHIPS

Israel’s military occupation expels Palestinian families, including children, from their homes to give way for these settlements. Israeli settlements are considered war crimes under international law.

More than 200 Palestinian sports clubs have called on Puma to end the sponsorship deal and stop supporting Israel’s illegal land grabs.

Puma markets itself as a company that cares about equality yet it funds the apartheid the IFA helps sustain.

In July 2018 it was announced that Adidas was no longer sponsoring the IFA following an international campaign and the delivery of over 16,000 signatures to Adidas headquarters.

We can do this again. Join Palestinian athletes calling for a boycott of Puma until it ends its support for Israel’s illegal land grabs.

Puma is a major sponsor of Melbourne City FC, Carlton and Richmond football clubs

We aim to raise awareness of Puma’s unethical sponsorship of the Israeli Football Association with Melbourne City, Carlton and Richmond fans and players.

Puma is involved in multiple activities in illegal Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian land. Puma’s support for illegal Israeli settlements pushing Palestinian families off their land comes with costs. Following engagement with local Palestinian rights supporters, Luton Town FC is the latest club to drop Puma.

Join the #BoycottPuma campaign in Australia as Melbourne City FC, Richmond and Carlton AFL clubs all have sponsorship deals with Puma.
Phone or send a message urging Puma Australia to stop supporting illegal Israeli settlements.

Athletics Australia has signed a 4 year partnership deal with Puma

In October 2020, Athletics Australia signed a 4 year partnership deal with Puma starting in 2021. We call on Athletics Australia to review this partnership in light of Puma’s complicity in Israel’s human rights violations.

The Melbourne Vixens are sponsored by Puma

In 2019 the Melbourne Vixens signed an apparel partnership with Puma. This is a 4 year deal making Puma the Official Apparel Partner of the Vixens. In 2020 the Vixens launched their #WitnessFearless campaign which they see as a social movement campaign, designed to continue to grow the conversation about the need to see a stronger backing of women’s sport.
We are calling on the Vixens to be fearless and support the rights of Palestinian women to be free to travel throughout Palestine, Jerusalem and Gaza and overseas to play football. We are calling on the Vixens to review their sponsorship deal with Puma.

The Queensland Maroons and NSW Blues

March 2021 – The Queensland Maroons and NSW Blues are the latest teams doing deals with PUMA. PUMA has come on board as a major Maroons partner for the next six years for Queensland’s men’s and women’s Origin teams and for the next four years as a NSW Blues partner. These are PUMA’s first rugby league sponsorship.

Statement from PUMA: “PUMA are great supporters of grassroots sport and will be providing offers to all Queensland rugby league participants during the partnership.” Yet its sponsorship of the Israeli Football Teams in the illegal Israeli settlements make a lie of this statement. Palestinian footballers are shot at by Israeli military and often prevented from playing away games because of Israeli travel restrictions. The grassroots of Palestine play football against great odds and with no help from PUMA.
